Chart Breakout

For investors who like to invest using a mixture of charts and fundamentals

Chart Breakout is a monthly investment newsletter, which uses a mixture of charts and fundamentals to make share recommendations. Each issue typically contains around 20 charts, with associated commentary. Like its sister publication, Quantum Leap, the focus is overwhelmingly on shares in fast-growing companies. In some ways because of the flexibility and the long editorial format Chart Breakout is my favourite of all my publications.

There is a degree of overlap with Quantum Leap and between all my publications but this overlap has the effect of reinforcing the message. In the same way as I benefit greatly from researching and writing them all I think there would be benefits to subscribers from receiving them all though I appreciate that this would be quite expensive.

As well as making share selections and occasionally recommending ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) Chart Breakout also monitors the performance of the indices using techniques such as moving averages and Coppock indicators. The use of the latter enabled the editor, Quentin Lumsden, to signal a new global bull market beginning in March 2009. Since then indices and shares across the world have risen sharply.

Chart Breakout has been in publication since 1984, edited by Quentin Lumsden for all of that time. It has an excellent track record of success, similar to that of Quantum Leap. If you take Quantum Leap and Chart Breakout together, which is an excellent idea for more actively committed investors, Apple, for example, has been featured 28 times since 2009. Over this period the price has risen from $21.56 to $175 recently.

Many other shares have also been the subject of multiple recommendations across both publications. Relentlessly adding to successful holdings to build an important stake over time is a consistent strategic feature across all the publications in the Quentin Lumsden stable.
